Would you like to talk to someone in another state, across the country, or even someone in space? Maybe you'd simply like to chat with a friend or family member just a mile down the road.
But here's a more important question: What happens when the cell phones stop working? What if the power grid goes down? Would you know how to communicate when traditional methods are no longer available? Would you like to learn?
Whether you're an experienced radio operator or just getting started, the Cumberland Summit Amateur Radio Group may be the group for you!
Founded in April 2025, our group began with a handful of Amateur Radio (Ham) operators who share a passion for radio communications, learning, and helping others discover the possibilities of radio. We are registered as a nonprofit corporation and welcome radio enthusiasts of all experience levels and interests.
You don't have to be a licensed Ham operator to join us! We welcome Amateur Radio operators, CB enthusiasts, shortwave listeners, GMRS users, and anyone interested in exploring the fascinating world of radio communications.
Our interests range from everyday conversations and radio experimentation to emergency communications and staying connected when conventional infrastructure fails.
While we are not affiliated with any particular locality or government agency, we believe in being good neighbors and are willing to assist with communications when requested and when our capabilities allow.
You don't have to live in the immediate area to become a member. Whether you're nearby or miles away, if you're interested in radio, learning new skills, making connections, or preparing for emergencies, there's a place for you here.
Curious? Ready to get on the air? Or just want to learn more?
